March 29, 2024 - Black raspberry with hints of violet on the nose. Excellent color with no bricking. Smooth tannins and balanced acidity up front, with the black raspberry and hints of other dark fruits (blackberry and a touch of cherry), with the raspberry and acidity carrying into a nice finish.

November 7, 2015 - Still tight, with similar acidity and tannins. Black raspberry upfront with a hint of cranberry after the transition. Good length, but still developing.

August 25, 2013 - Deep, dark purple color. Must and forest floor combine with berries (blue and black predominate). Cedar and cassis and traditional bordeaux and Washington State profile flavors. It's been almost 3 years since I popped one of these and we really enjoyed it! This win ewill last a long time. Took a few hours to fully open.

March 13, 2013 - Popped and poured. Dark crimson color. Nice nose of red currant and dark plum with some cedar, cigar box and just a touch of chocolate and toasty oak coming through. Dark red fruit flavors on the palate with a bit more sweet tobacco flavor and some dark chocolate notes on the back end. Slight hint of heat on the finish though. Medium acid with medium+ tannins and mostly full bodied on the palate. Enjoyable now but this wine still has plenty of life ahead of it.

December 12, 2012 - Vary dark, almost completely opaque in the glass, with purpling at the rim, this wine was initially served too cold, and was very tight at first, particularly on the nose, which displayed raspberry and little else. After time, warmth, and air (about 2.5 hours), however, this blossomed dramatically to reveal rich cassis and black plum, along with cherry liqueur and vanilla extract on the nose. The palate was big, with punchy tannins that had a slightly grainy texture, but didn't cover up the blackberry and cassis fruit. The mid-palate showed the tiniest bit of secondary humus and other earthy flavors, plus a bit of lighter wood - perhaps alder - and a slightly floral character. The finish was deliciously long and very well balanced. I enjoyed this wine a whole lot, and felt it was worth the $37 delivered price, but only after several hours of aeration. It can last a whole lot longer than this, and I wish I had more than a single bottle remaining of this sold-out wine. Can I keep my hands off this delicious effort for another 3 to 5 years? We shall see....
