December 14, 2023 - This really needed lots and lots of time in the decanter. It was part of a lineup in a tasting and it was only when we revisited the bottle at the end that it finally started showing what it is capable off. Still quite tannic but well integrated and balanced. This will continue to age very nicely I think.
August 29, 2023 - Locked down. Started showing some life after substantial decanting. Substantial promise. CDT tasting for Chapitre.
March 4, 2023 - Subtle bouquet of blueberries and goose berries, spices, undergrowth. Medium-bodied, sooth palate with quite some freshness and acidity, leading to a long finish of spices. Still feels a bit disjointed and young, especially for a 2009. But there definitively is substance and complexity. May just need more time.
July 7, 2022 - Floral notes with honey sweetness, needs to be left to open up a tad. Great.
November 14, 2021 - Rich in fruit, red and black, a little ripe on the nose but also covered in beautiful floral scents. Good solid fruit forward palate, still some tannins. This wine has a long life but is highly enjoyable now.
May 30, 2021 - Very rich and primary, black fruit is “in your face” almost liqueur like though I don’t sense this is especially high in alcohol. Kept improving over hours in the glass. Interesting today, and I expect this could be a superstar in a decade or two.
May 1, 2021 - Bouquet of ripe red berries, gooseberries, spices, liquor, with darker, roasted elements. Complex palate balancing fresher, spicier components with sweetness, fresh ripe sour cherries, with still a tannic bite. Relatively long finish. Whilst there are interesting tertiary elements pushing through, feels still young. Needs another 2-3 years, already a pleasure to drink, definitely now feels more GC than a year ago, but will likely substantially improve and round out.
April 30, 2021 - Stony red cherry fruits with a earthy appeal. Good dark fruits with a zippy edge. Nothing profound, but good.
April 29, 2021 - Clos Vougeot - Northside / Chambolle-side Tasting (Chicago): 09/10 single blind. The richer and riper of the pair with more earthiness in the aromas. Full bodied and not subtle with fairly strict structure. More brooding and should improve with upside from here in 5-10 years.
April 29, 2021 - Clos Vougeot (Chambolle/ Northside) Tasting (Chicagoland IL): In vertical. Ripe red cherry and berry start-to-finish that is very fresh, still firm in the middle. Very good length. Upside from here.
