October 25, 2021 - Marking this as flawed, but suspect it's actually bad winemaking. Pronounced VA and oaky, highly imbalanced. No pinot elegance at all, hard to even point it to a Burg

January 16, 2021 - Corked....sadly. I was looking forward to this last bottle and also because there were hints that this has developed nicely. But wet cardboard hides everything else. ☹️

November 6, 2020 - Remainder of the bottle from the previous Coravin sample. Actually better showing more generosity of fruit and softer tannins. Drinking beautifully. No hurry to drink my final bottle.

The wine is clear and medium garnet in colour.
The nose is clean with medium (+) intensity aromas of ripe red fruit (red currant, cherry), oak (smoke, clove), spice (liquorice), floral (violet), tertiary (forest floor, savoury, mushroom). The wine is developing.
The palate is dry with high acidity, medium ripe tannins, medium (+) alcohol, medium body, medium (+) intensity flavours of cherry, red currant, smoke, liquorice, violet, forest floor. The finish is medium +.

January 25, 2020 - Coravin sample. Somewhat more developed than when I last tasted this in 2016. The tertiary flavours are more evident although there is still some primary fruit. Tannins a little more drying than I remember and the finish slightly shorter. Has potential for further development. No hurry to drink.

September 30, 2018 - Each time I drink this red Burgundy, it makes me realize how well it compares to all the others I try in this price bracket. It’s fairly priced for starters and combines the soul of the old world with fruit generosity normally associated with the new world’s pinots. So it is a modern style and Burgundy purists might feel it’s too fruit forward. 2009 was admittedly a hot vintage producing generous wines but this has everything in balance and would highly recommend. If you’re a new world pinot lover trying to get into Burgundy, this is a good starting point.
