August 2, 2020 - Based on previous note (from 6/27/17) I gave this bottle a 20 minute decant and that helped to open up the wine. There seemed to be a bit of alcohol, along with a good dose of dark red fruits, on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate showed a great mix of red and dark red fruits, some spice, and touches of earth and pepper, with well integrated tannins, and wonderfully balanced acidity. The wine has aged well, but I would suggest drinking up soon.

    December 17, 2019 - Medium color.
Blackberry and cherry on the nose.
Black cherry and plum on the palate with a hint of smoke.
Tight and dry finish, with light tannins; not much fruit structure and detail on the finish.
Decanting an hour was beneficial and softened the tannins.
Wine aged well overall; would have given it a 90 or 91 a few years ago.

July 15, 2017 - Dense color, good palate feel, good mouthful of berry's, just really smooth.

June 27, 2017 - Slo-ox for 1/2 hr. Enjoyed this vintage of the OMV Zin better than the 2011 we had a couple of weeks ago. This wine seemed incredibly smooth and well integrated, with a medium to plus mouthfeel. A great mix of red and dark red fruits, with a touch of earth, well integrated tannins, and wonderfully balanced acidity. Will surely hold for several years. Kudos to Fred!

January 10, 2017 - Consistent with previous notes. Well-balanced for a California zinfandel. More elegant. I really need to buy some more of these.
