October 5, 2022 - The wine showed signs of its age but is drinking beautifully now. Casis, blackcurrant with an aged leathery character. The wine is smooth and yet still showing some new-world boldness with some bell pepper notes peeking through at the end, which was subtle enough to add complexity without distracting from the other flavors. This wine is in a beautiful place!

November 20, 2021 - This is a Napa producer that I really need to spend a lot more time with. It's always delicious. There's a certain kindof green note to the wine that seems to contain the fruit a bit more. From a magnum. Very fresh. For a year that didn't get the accolades have always really enjoyed the 98s.

July 16, 2021 - Boisson-Vadot Tasting plus X (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Beautiful deep color, wonderful dense nose with a nice mélange of ripe red fruit, oak, spices and herbs (menthol). Silky texture, good acidity, good balance, long finish. Still potential for improvement. 93-94

July 3, 2020 - Wow - what an extraordinary wine from an underrated vintage. Beautiful dark and red berries on the palate. Medium+ to full bodied. Firm tannins, a nice and soft acidity. Superb depth and structure. Long finish. Long life ahead. Drank blind - guessed 10 years younger. Just beautiful.

November 27, 2018 - Another lovely bottle from an underrated vintage; this still showed quite young really; the color was dark with minimal clearing at the rim; the nose has cassis, plum, blackberry, tobacco, leather, herbs, and minty notes. The palate shows lovely dark fruit with good acidity, mostly resolved tannins, but still a bit of structure. This is quite good and well stored bottles will have at least another decade of really good drinking.

July 2008 (link)(Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard) A sleeper vintage, as with many of Napa’s top-of-the-line Cabernets. Garnet color, fading to brick red. Nose of mint chocolate, cedar, vanilla, dark cherry, and blackcurrant. Smooth tannins anchor a balanced structure; the only relative drawback is an abbreviated finish. Terroir: Martha's Vineyard
