January 9, 2023 - Blackberry, baking spice, leather. Hint of savory meat but not much. Nice, but not amazing.

August 2, 2022 - Hint of bricking on the rim
Nose is quite savory with dark red bramble fruit
Palate is brambly complex and interesting
I suspect a longer decant would have smoothed things out.
I like it. -

There’s one nice stuff going on here. Savory w a bit of that salt cured olive you get sometimes. It’s good and it’s drinking well now, but for me it’s just a bit too hot.
I tend to be pretty sensitive to high alcohol so YMMV1 person found this helpful Comment -

9/13/2011 (link) ***** points(Betz Family Winery La Côte Patriarche Syrah Yakima Valley) An aromatically intoxicating wine full of smoke, earth, blueberries, dark fruit, high toned floral notes, and smoked meat. The palate is lithe with plush tannins and soft fruit flavors with a dense inner core. A long, lingering finish. 100% Syrah. Red Willow Vineyard. Aged 12 months in French oak (50% new). 14.7% alcohol. 190 cases produced.
