October 17, 2023 - Black core, deeply coloured.
Plummy, cassis, slightly briary, well integrated oak spice.
Fine chalky tannins, mouthcoating, bright acidity, fleshy texture, finishes a little coarse. Delicious bright fruit flavours of plum and cassis, includes tar spice, gentle oak char, just a hint of leather. Full of life, years ahead of it.

July 29, 2023 - Very strange, instead of settling into a wonderful complex Hunter Valley complexity, this appears to be having a midlife crisis. Almost too big too much acidity. The fruit and vanilla are there but the softer tertiary notes have disappeared. Will leave the last one as an experiment. I suspect the newer vintages will have avoided this. Alcohol was v high at 16%

July 10, 2022 - Now looking like it is entering its drinking window. Beautiful Hunter shiraz.
Its the halfway point between the Barossa and Northern Rhone, a seamless wine with super length and complexity.
Makes a strong argument that the best Shiraz wines actually come out of the Hunter, not the Barossa.

March 3, 2022 - It is woke! Deep brooding Hunter shiraz. Plenty of life.

November 5, 2020 - I am glad to tell Felixp this is now waking up but has a long life ahead of it. Dark garnet colour still. Nose a touch on the restrained side for Hunter Shiraz but still plenty there and inviting. Good sweet fruit attack with acidity in balance and long long aftertaste. I will leave this now until end 2023
