December 10, 2013 - Straw in color, this sparkling wine showed bread dough and subtle citrus on the nose, minerality and yeasty notes on the mouth feel, and pleasant, zippy acidity on the finish. Overall, a very tasty, well made sparkler.

May 9, 2013 - This blend of 60% chardonnay and 40% Folle Blanche just might become our go-to sparkler for casual occasions. Bright acidity, yeasty and dry, with an undertone of nice honeyed funkiness. Fun and festive, but with enough subtle gravitas to keep geeks from smirking. Screaming deal at <$15.

CellarTracker regional info is currently incorrect: Pays de la Vienne is in SW, part of the Loire, between Poitiers and Tours.

Nice sparkling wine made by the traditional method.

(This wine is a little more austere than Bele Casel. I like the Bele a slightly better but I would buy this again.)

(NV Ampelidae Brut Armance B Vin de Pays de la Vienne) Frédéric Brochet, a research enologist at the University of Bordeaux, focuses on sustainable viticulture, low yields, and traditional varieties in producing a full range of wines traditional to the Vienne, the region around Poitiers in the Haut-Poitou. This sparkling wine is a value-priced alternative to Champagne, made from organically grown Gros Plant, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc using the méthode traditionelle. It presents a fine, gentle mousse, a fairly deep color, and an interesting nose—the first impression is clean and citric, but with time, notes of apricots, herbs, and wet sheep come forward. On the palate, the texture is creamy, with crisp acidity and good length. Little-Known Wines of the Loire
