July 4, 2022 - Beautiful crystal clear light ruby with orange brick rim. Nose like a mountain stream over stones. White flowers, cherry skin nose with a bit of clean stone. Entry light, tasty, slightly sweet dark cherry. Quite an intense mid-palate. Not at all heavy but delicate yet deeply flavored. Quite a heavy acidity still but works with the right food. Best served a bit chilled. Not a rose, but it's use is not far off. Perhaps the oldest I've had an Occhipinti Frappato. Extended to 2028. My 2016 note said it was perhaps on the downhill side. Wrong I was. This is aging nicely.

May 21, 2021 - Tasty, light, sprite, but past prime. Still, a serious Frappato with depth and nuance. Nice!

February 18, 2021 - This is good stuff. It is still so tightly wound that it tasted much much better the second day. By then it was positively singing.
Of course the "problem" is that who wants to wait 11+ years for a Frappato that, at best (and I am showing a bit of prejudice against the ultimate potential of this grape to ascend to the highest, most profound heights, sorry about that) will be a nice bright pomegranate cherry wine with a little more interesting depth and character than a lot of similarly weighted grapes/wines, but otherwise just not that amazing? (I mean I did score it 91 which is high for me)
11+ years? That is a long time to wait for such pleasures. -

June 22, 2018 - Funky days are back again; a bit sour and average on its own, really nice and perfect with the crazy brussel sprouts at Hendrix in Dana Point. Lighter, low tannins, sour black and purple fruit, touch sour aspect, mellow from age, stood up to sprouts admirably. Hendrix

May 1, 2017 - translucent ruby color with light bricking. lava, sandalwood, cinnamon, and dried orange peel nose. acid has receded and light bodied palate has softened and rounded up. focused flavors of red cherry, maple syrup, and lava rock. lasting, drying super fine tannins on the end. tertiary flavors of shiitake and dried autumn leaves. very nice and i am encouraged by how this has aged. would think it's time to drink in the next year, but then i thought it would be dead by now.....
