August 1, 2023 - My first Butteaux from Raveneau. More used to the Montée de Tonnerre, this came across as a more distant and less playful wine - perhaps with a bit less pedigree and definitely less of a slap in the face. Colour was light straw. Subtle honey and lemon tart. More of an Eric Rohmer and less of a Spielberg. Obviously very good, but that’s a given.

June 28, 2023 - Brought along by Jim Cahill for our dinner at Roberto's.
Medium golden color, surprisingly pale for its age...light on its feet and the palate, nutty smell and taste, filigree and well balanced with a firm mineral base.
Very pleasant and has kept very well.

May 14, 2023 - PNP. Airy nose of sweet tarts, lemon and chalky sea breeze. Open palate, rich, ripe and giving with a citrus edge and a limestone finish. Drinks very well today, but room for upside.

April 6, 2023 - Amazingly light, still with greenish glint. Classic floral, oyster shell nose with citrus. Medium weight, fabulous feel. Mix of lemon, apple, broth, vanilla, and a profound soil finish. Properly dry. Great length. Each time I've had this, it has gotten better and better, shedding the early richness of the vintage and becoming more structured and Chablisien. I poured a bit for 2 sommeliers that I knew, and each commented on what a great, atypical 2009 this was. Fantastic bottle.

June 20, 2022 - PNP. Yellow. Light tide pool and lemon on the nose. The palate is medium weight, with a round mouth feel, good lemon infused tart fruit with a lower acid finish. Seems ready to go but also not declining in any way.
