May 5, 2018 - This wine is showing a brown core and a tawny rim, looks like it is getting OTH. Smell does have some maderized notes in the midst of the black cherry fruit and animal/earthy notes. The mouthfeel shows nicely balanced tannins and acidity, with a med+ finish. Drink now through 2019.

December 23, 2017 - Decanted for an hour, not ready yet. After 3 more hours, nose of bright cherries, menthol. In the mouth, cherries again as the main theme. Nutmeg and a hint of smoke play supporting roles. Wine is smooth and velvety without any hard edges at age 9.
