Community Tasting Notes 1

July 11, 2010 - Lesser Italian White Varietals (Duchman Family Winery Driftwood, Texas): The least favorite of one group, after it had been open for an hour. Upon opening it smelled of wet wool and slate, had a stone minerality quality, and had some herbal tea, green apple, and light citrus notes, and was a bit musty and funky—not bad. After time the nose got funkier and tasters found burnt hair, gun flint, sulphur, and “rat pee,” and accordingly down-graded it.
