Community Tasting Notes 8

September 18, 2016 - Once again consistent albeit expected a bit more evolution in the 4 years since we tried this (Papies 92).
Still very ripe, modern, good amount of sweet oak. Chocolate notes at time. A well made wine but a bit charmless to be honest for the pedigree. Still a good 91

September 7, 2012 - We believe our friends decanted this for 7 hours or so and definitely help and the wine has so much structure and vitality it can last for a few days. Definitely on the young side.
Good ripe notes of fruit , decent oak still exists , chocholatey notes too. On the palate it has the strehgth and concentration and a big 14.5% alchohol to match. Still it has an elegance in its strength and its a shame really we tried it so young. Consistent with our notes from 4 months ago. 92-93 for the moment. Lots of life ahead.

September 7, 2012 - At Sant Pau. Loved it. Nose that jumps out of the glass. Sweet but classic maroon red fruit. Earthy smokey and finishes with mouth watering acidity, though slightly bitter on the finish.

August 6, 2012 - What a monster of a wine- almost like a bodybuilder:-) this was opened and decanted and poured back in the bottle 4 hours before impact and it was still tight as a baby. The nose was initially very floral with herbes also showing but with time the blackcurrant came through with so much power and heat that the acidity and the tannins really had to be so aggressive as to keep the big big fruit in place. The finish was intense and big with loads of fruit and here the plumb came through big-time. A really nice wine but maybe a bit to heated for my pallet though.

April 22, 2012 - Soft animale nose. Spicy, dark chewy finish. Long finish. Creamy and smooth, but a little too much acidity at the end of the finish. This will open up nicely in a couple of years. Concentrated and very well balanced.
