Community Tasting Notes 7

March 29, 2014 - Seems I have come halfway back with this wine. It was so appealing on release, overly tannic just a half-year later and now somewhere in-between. With time the tannin calms down and carignane's inherent cherry comes through. Perhaps it is similar to D'Aupilhac in that it needs a bit more aging to come into it's own.

July 14, 2012 - Dark red in the center, clear around the edges. Strong scent of strawberries, smells cool, but there's a hint of something darker like black licorice. It takes a while to settle in, but when it does, it's tart, very merloty

January 27, 2012 - Mmm... yeasty. Seems a little flabby, perhaps with non-zero r.s. Had I tasted this blind, I would've thought late harvest Zinfandel.

February 25, 2011 - Expressive mix of dark cherries, stones, animal something, and earth. Strong acid profile, as expected, nicely textured and a light overall touch. Tasty business as usual.

February 5, 2011 - A real disappointment. Oaky nose. Big and weighty on the palate and oaked dark fruits. How could this be so oaked when the newest barrels are at least one year old? I loved this when tasted last summer. Will wait until 2012 to try the next one.
