May 28, 2019 - Monthly Men's Wine Dinner (2120 Restaurant, Seattle): Pop and pour. Soft and rich Syrah, very approachable. Just a touch of stone on the finish, otherwise not much varietal character. Still a crowd pleaser drinking well now. My #3 of 5 and the group's #4.

May 16, 2015 - Big burly, high octane Syrah. Not really typical of Boushey vineyard imo. Pleasant enough and well balanced drinker but missing the cool climate earthiness I expected.

December 18, 2011 - An overpriced gas-a-hol wine. Completely devoid of complexity.

July 31, 2010 - Tasted at the release party today, it was actually a vertical tasting from the 2005 to 2008 Syrahs. Nice nose, very much like a nice bouquet of wildflowers, nothing overpowering. The syrah hits and then tingles the sweet sensors on the tongue, like dark chocolate, then melts in with a rhubarb cobbler’ish flavor, but ends on decidedly dark cherry/fleshy fruit note and a smooth non-acid/tacky finish. It resembled the 2006 syrah as far the smoothness potential given time in the bottle to age. Absolutely drinkable now, bottles were pop and poured and I’m sure given more air (decanted) more fruit and coco notes would be present.

12/6/2010 (link) ***** points(Sparkman Cellars Darkness Syrah Boushey Vineyards Yakima Valley) Dark almost to the point of being opaque with purple at the rim. A brooding nose with blueberries, blackberries, smoked meat, and light floral notes. An opulent, big, intensely fruit-filled wine that almost vibrates on the palate with penetrating fruit flavors. 100% Boushey Syrah. Aged in French oak (20% new). 14.9% alcohol. 70 cases produced.
