October 20, 2018 - No formal notes, a high quality wine.

March 15, 2013 - Good nose. Perfumed and forward. Notes of violet, wet earth, spice wood, red cherry, raspberry with hints of oak. Slightly more red fruits. Dry mid-palate with noticeable tannins throughout. 13% alcohol with slight heat at finish. Good acidity level and long. This wine is not ready yet unlike a lot of 2009 Burgundy. Still showing a lot of tannins on 2nd day, bright acidity, not as balance as I like. 90-94 pts.

October 31, 2011 - Back to single blind format, we are poured a wine with a medium-plus intense and opaque ruby core but no clearing whatsoever. The medium-plus intense and utterly primary nose has some genuine depth to it and shows plummy black fruit, laced with cotton-candy wood notes.
While très concentré, it is no more than medium-bodied and a lot of black-fruited sève is present on the medium-plus intense mid-palate, which is again admirably deep. Acidity however, barely passes the medium mark and while the also medium tannins are positively fluffy with ripeness, there is a slightly drying edge to the structure on the 15-20 second finish, which does sport enough black cherry flavour to preserve a balanced drinking experience.
It might just have been a case of the wrong bottle opened at the wrong moment, but I was astounded to find out this was the Beaux-Monts. Since this is admittedly not my style of Burgundy, my “blind” score was a lot lower but I’ll offer the benefit of the doubt; 90 points with unknown potential. Notwithstanding the fact that it may have suffered from having to follow the seemingly much fresher Ampeau, the low-ish acidity is somewhat worrisome ................TN Mike de Lange.
