January 14, 2013 - Spiced blackberries. Nice acidity. First Mondeuse.

December 6, 2012 - A slightly reductive note like shrimp paste, interesting and agreeable enough not to warrant the immersion of a penny, along with sweet earthy roasted root vegetables, black pepper, a bit of dark chocolate, and some restrained fruit. There's certainly a spicy pungency to it, something like turnips rubbed with shrimp paste. Pretty deep and interesting. Palate is earthy, mineral, tannic, and tart, with much more fruit than the nose but the fruit's not exactly fruity (cherry-rhubarb?). Excellent wine, mondeuse continues to intrigue me and seems to offer a nonsensical complexity-price-ratio.

Second night: fruit is much more open, cherry-plum, much smoother and more elegant, no reduction, quite enjoyable.

February 6, 2012 - Exotic nose of spiced plum, dusty blackberry, dark floral notes and crushed stones. The palate had decent weight to it, but wasn't overly dense which gave the dark fruit and florals an airiness to them. If I had to guess this blind, I would have thought it to be a feminine styled St. Joseph - lacking the meatiness but with more floral tones. An excellent wine.

February 10, 2011 - Having no experience with Mondeuse, I wasn't sure what to expect. Really enjoyed this with charcuterie--showed excellent acidity, red and purple fruits and good minerality.

February 9, 2011 - This was really nice wine. Inky dark, with fantastic minerality and great fruit. I quite enjoyed it, both with baked ziti, and enchiladas!
