January 6, 2022 - On opening this bottle, I found yet another “wine disc” – a concentrated deposit of sediment that formed a seal against the top of the bottle from when it was stored (years ago) on its top. The beautiful “Loring purple” shimmers in the glass. A nose of dark fruits dominated by black cherry rise from the glass. The bouquet also delivers a distinct smokiness and earthiness. And the telltale teaberry comes through distinctively from the mid-palate to the finish. The tannins are resolved – nice timing since this is my last bottle. A film coating of sediment covers the sides of the bottle. 14.6% alc. With smoked salmon leftovers. 01.02.22. Recommended.

May 4, 2019 - Translucent and brilliant “Loring Red”, yet opaque in the glass. An incredibly focused and complex nose of licorice, balsamic, violets, smoke, strawberries, and cherry jam. The mouthfeel is expansive. The tannins are fully integrated but will carry the wine for some time to come. The fruit has no danger of fading in the near future. Some Dr. Pepper joins in the smoky, balsamic finish. This is one of the best Loring Pinots I’ve ever tasted. 14.6% alc. (Don’t recall the food pairing.). 05.?.19. Highly Recommended.

October 26, 2017 - A brilliant, opaque “Loring Red” fills the glass. The nose is full of licorice, smoke, and cherry jam. “Big” best describes the nose with a distinct sweetness from the fruit. In the mouth, the bigness and sweetness from the nose carry over. The licorice, smoke and cherry jam ay down the attack while brown sugar flank the mid-palate. Some Dr. Pepper forays in for the finish. The tannins are well integrated but are in no danger of fading away anytime soon. 14.6% alc. With roasted salmon under panko, sea salt and EVOO. Recommended.

November 11, 2016 - Quite balanced considering how flavorful, bold, and juicy this is. That serious dose of alcohol has been largely integrated. Bitter citrus, dark berries. Pervasive, palate-staining long-lasting flavors. Joyous if almost over the top.

July 1, 2015 - A big Pinot for sure...black fruit and spice dominate. Really enjoyed this wine. If you like this style of Pinot...big and rich, then this is for you
