Community Tasting Notes 38

  • retired_and_roving Does not like this wine:

May 25, 2019 - Another wine that I used to like when I bought it but palate has long since moved on. Great to serve the group as a 4th or 5th bottle. Dark sweet leaning ripe fruit, with the tannins smoothed but lacking acidity to give it lift. Not for me. That being said - I find that this tends to be a crowd pleaser.

February 26, 2019 - Monthly Men's Wine Dinner (Purple Cafe, Bellevue, WA): Pop and pour. Stunning, intense red blend that is completely approachable now and drinking way above its price point. Balanced fruit with a touch of chocolate. Medium finish. Drink now. My #3 of 5 and tied for the group's #2.

December 21, 2018 - Full bodied concuction of beautiful flavors, like vanilla, currant, and cloves. Well balanced and constructed. Good level of tannins and medium dry.

August 26, 2018 - The wine was impressive from the first sip. We opened it and aerated the wine for 30 minutes before enjoying it. The flavor profile was filled with black raspberries, cassis and a hint of chocolate. It was full bodied and the finish was long, lingering and very satin like!

February 14, 2018 - Much better than the '07 I had three years ago. This is deep, penetrating, massive on the palate - almost felt like an Amarone in some respects. No obvious sweet fruit, no sourness but just massive power but there is an ease about it too. Nothing wayward, stiff or awry. Serious is a key word I'd use to describe it.
