November 28, 2021 - Flower Day - First taste is right after decanting off of about 2 tablespoons of sediment. Still cool from the cellar. Garnet with mahogany edge in the glass. Nose of balsamic, dried red florals and fruit, and dried savoury herbs (rosemary, tarragon, thyme). On the palate the balsamic hits first followed by the dried red fruit, floral element and herbs. On the long finish the balsamic note continues. This is actually a bit like an infused very soft fruit infused balsamic vinegar. Fully mature and yet still smooth and tasty. Will wait and see where the balsamic goes before rating.
Now warmed and opening up - nose is dried red fruit, herbs and dried red florals and a touch of strawberry jam (?). The balsamic has faded into the background but is there adding complexity. The palate is dried fruit (both red and black) with basil and fresh rosemary. There’s still a bit of tannin showing as well as medium plus acidity that balances everything out, although at this point in it’s life, this is definitely a food wine. 92+ at least and excellent on this day. I have very good cellar conditions and purchased this on release so I’d say drink now. -

January 14, 2018 - Opened and poured. Very very dark, purpling to reddening on the rim. Slight sediment. Mostly refined at this point, but very silky and nice balance at this stage. There's more savory blacks than reds, and some sweetness still. No real distracting qualities....very solid.

July 31, 2017 - This wine is clearly over the hill. Still shows a little fruit, but a lot of acidity. Basically tastes like red wine, but not very pleasant to drink. This one went down the kitchen sink, not good enough to use for coq au vin.

April 9, 2015 - Initial opening reveals a ruby to oranging at the rim. Medium bodied, classic Spanish spice nose: lots of dried cherries, cranberry and currant aromas, with a dense core of blackberry, smoked plum, date paste and prune. Fairly neutralized, showing more weight with air on a smooth resolved finish. Day two+ under vac-u-vin this is become muddied, plumish, resolved, flat. Definitely on the decline and would recommend consuming in one setting.
