  January 17, 2011 - The vintage caught up with the wine, it is shot...toast..done. It has a little left at the open, but nothing left the next day so drink up if you have some of it. It is not that bad to drop it below 80, but I have one bottle left and by the time I get to it ...it may be there. Taste is very vegetal with a little fruit in the background. Not much left here.

  December 15, 2009 - This may be in a dumb phase. Did not show much when opened. I thought the next day I would see more, but it just died. You got the fruit and some complexity at open, but I thought there would be more for a premier cru. I know 04 was an off year so that may have something to do with it. I will wait and see how this develops over the next few years as I have a few more bottles.

  August 22, 2008 - The Besson -> This is a good wine for the price (~$20). Let's see, some red fruit on the front, but a touch more acidic than it should be. I can't put my finger on the taste through the finish. Some sort of earthiness. Decent structure. Some tannic grip on the finish.
  
  Thousand Foot 2006 ->
  
  Both the Bessen and the Thousand Foot were open for a couple hours prior to the good drinking. It is hard to believe that the same grape is responsible for these two wines. On first taste, I said "wow, the Thousand Foot by a mile." However, over the next couple hours the Thousand Foot didn't really do much. Really, when I drank the neck down I thought that the Thousand Foot had a really enjoyable fruit-forward flavor. Next to the Bessen, again, after a couple hours, the Thousand Foot seemed like a pretty simple wine.
  
  This all said, I'd buy both and drink as follows: The Thousand Foot if you want a very accessible fruit-forward inexpensive Pinot - the Bessen if you're looking for a bit more interest.

  March 5, 2007 - Deep ruby to rose at rim. Primary, black cherry nose wit a bit of earth and herb – fairly deep. There seems to be a bit of a new oak element as well. Light bodied and juicy – this could use a year or two to full round out, but this is a stunning value ($14) for burgundy. (87+)
