August 13, 2023 - Plenty of rich, off-dry fruit that spans orchard, tropical and citrus with lovely smoke and mineral complexity. Good freshness and lift that counters the remaining and plentiful RS. Quality and complexity is evident.

October 9, 2022 - Succulent, très belle persistance aromatique
    Robe : Or, brillante.
Grande longueur
    Excellent

September 4, 2022 - Deep golden. This, since release perfectly stored bottle, is quite a step up to my last one. The scents and flavors are quite the same, but this shows much more power and intensity without loosing its complexity and finesse. This is my wine of the weekend, making the dry wines (Abtserde 2010 and 2016 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese Molitor white capsule), as great as they are, to loosers. Never ending on the palate. This prooves the 96 points from Schildknecht for the WA in 2005 a bit pessemistic. 5/14/19/10. -2040

August 21, 2022 - Some Wine Tasted Watching the Chicago Air & Water Show (Chicago, IL): Walk around tasting. Almost identical to when last tasted at this same event in 2019, just slightly less sweet. Floral start with spice, peach and tropical hints. Still moderately sweet but also so bright, making this a charming food wine. Good+ length.

January 18, 2022 - Had this bottle I purchased in 2011 from an auction house last night. 8% ABV!! Was concerned a little about potential storage since it was purchased at auction and I moved around several times but upon opening it had a beautiful floral nose that to me smelled a little like a combination of lemon zest and peaches. No significant petrol notes that I often get with some older Rieslings. Still fresh and could have lasted many more years potentially decades. Enjoyed it with friends at a terrific wine party and the most of the bottle was quickly consumed. Saved a tiny bit for a second day revisit. My only bottle of this vintage and it was a terrific drinking experience.

Rockss and Fruit

(Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Spatlese) This wine just hit that sweet spot with one sip and whatever was bothering me that day was gone with one sip of this greta wine. Majestic aromas of slate, pineapple, tangelo, grapefruit, cherry, floral spice. Just a symphonic nose. The palate is linear and incredibly focused but juicy and alive at the same time with so much depth and the classic Donnhoff dissolve on the finish which is super complex almost fractal of minerals that explodes and dissolves away. Just majestic wine.

(Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Spatlese) This is just awesome and I think with a touch less focus and snap than the '01 but is truly great. The nose was just awesome with sweet tart complexity and intense floral aromas with a rich cassis background. Incredibly expansive and harmonious. Just an amalagam of flavors on the nose. The palate was rich and dense with a great lightness. Ethereal with beautiful purity of fruit and saline minerality throughut. Long finish. This wine is just so complete. Wonderful.
