January 28, 2024 - Still going strong. The nose shows lemon chiffon cake dusted with icing sugar. The palate is quite exotic with grapefruit and pineapple and a touch of the tang one would sometimes associate with a Jurancon. Far fresher than most Côte d’Or Chardonnays of the same year.
Year in and out, one of Burgundy’s greatest bargains, especially if you can age them -

February 3, 2019 - Good Wine with a Boring Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Social walk-around tasting, brief note. From magnum. Baked apple and dried apricot with botrytis hints. As always for Bongran, this is complex and eccentric. Very good weight.

April 7, 2017 - Nice cork. Developed, dark yellow color. Aromas of ripe yellow fruits with some burnt and woody notes. Full bodied and a bit sweet in the mouth. Guess this is late harvest stuff. I can also feel the grape fruit bitterness like Guy des Rosiers describes. Even if it is not great, and well over the hill, it is so exciting that I raise to 87 p.

January 10, 2016 - Second (and last) bottle. While the wine is clearly past its prime, this was a much better bottle than the last one. Gone are the oxidized notes of baked apple and the acetone. The nose offers up some pineapple and peach, with notes of burnt caramel. There is still a glimpse of sweetness on the palate, and a slight bitterness (like grapefruit) on the finish. Although much of the fruit has faded, there is still a strong note of fresh peach, which makes the wine appealing. The acidity is bright and the wine is full-bodied and generous.

December 12, 2015 - Has this seen better days? Of course. But after 19 years, it's nice to see that it is still very much alive. Tasted from magnum. Deep lemon to pale golden core. The nose offers some oxidized notes of baked apple and acetone, along with more pleasant aromas of hazelnut, spearmint, pineapple, apricot and cane sugar. Medium- to full-bodied, with bright acidity reminiscent of unripe peach. The residual sugar typically associated with this producer is long gone. The mouthfeel, however, is still generous. The fruit, which once must have been rich and botrytized, is now faded. Still pleasant to drink, and I'm happy I tried it.
