September 7, 2018 - This wine is called the queen of the wood and for good reason: it’s aged in oak barrels for 24 months. The oakiness is very intense filling the mouth and the palate. It gives us a richness akin to caramel. The fruit is mellow and the tannins quite soft and dry. A nice acidity keeps it from being too overwhelming. However, it was a lot of wood on the first night. The second day was better. The wood had retreated some and the oxygen had melded all the flavours a bit. It was very nice the second night and felt more refreshing.

February 22, 2015 - Very dark color. Nose of ripe to slightly overripe cherry, liquorice, leather. Some wood. Full-bodied with chunky tannins and good acidity that gives this just enough lift. Huge proportions but not over the top. Long finish.
