August 31, 2023 - End-of-Summer Dinner Featuring Vega-Sicilia Único (Asador Bastian - Chicago IL): Double decanted a few hours in advance, but not long enough. Powerful red cherry throughout, just barely/ almost accessible.

August 31, 2023 - This felt a bit hard and not at all like a singing bottle back in the Spring. Never quite opened up despite a couple of hours of a double decant.

May 20, 2023 - Sangiovese study, Volume II (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Obviously Burgundy, clearly high-calibre stuff. Red-fruited to the extent that this made me think 2010, and a bit of a spice note that made me think of Hudelot-Noëllat. In hindsight, this was more fruit-forward and plusher than 2010 (and showing a little less acid).

July 1, 2018 - Dark ruby with hints of bricking, vanilla bean, black and red cherry, iron and soda on the nose, rich red and dark fruit on the attack followed by even darker stewed fruit, earth, iron and soft, well integrated tannins, finish is long and complex showing it's stuff with animal, earth, minerals, dusty cherry, dried black fruit, hints of mocha and on and on, wow

Note: It kills me to give a score like this on a wine you can no longer find but if just happen to have a time-machine...

October 16, 2017 - Really lovely. Still lovey fruit, tannins soft, oak fully integrated.
