September 6, 2019 - Blind Tasting at Jim and Stacia’s (New Jersey, USA): Decanted for 2 hours then returned to the bottle for transport to a tasting. It has a large amount of thick sediment. Served double blind to a group of 8. Light to medium translucent ruby-brick. Nose is very fragrant wth roses, jammy red fruit, smoke, charcoal and a hint of chocolate. Palate has still lots of drying tannin, chewy and savory with cherry and anise. Excellent length on the finish of more than 30 seconds. Bright and energetic for its age. It should last a bit longer but probably not getting better with more time.

P.s. a couple in the group really liked this one best and again some thought it was one of the lesser wines in the tasting. I was slightly disappointed and I preferred the Moccagata Barbaresco over this.

October 22, 2016 - The 2006 Eugenio Bocchinio La Serena Barolo was part of a nebbiolo tasting. The color was a light garnet red with medium viscosity. The nose was expressive with aroma of plum, cherry, mushroom, rose petal and tar. The mouth feel was light with decent tannins. The taste provided flavors of plum, cherry and mushroom. This wine needs ten more years. Decant for three hours. Score 91

October 20, 2016 - We had a number of different Nebbiolo based wines from all over northwestern Italy tonight, most of which I had never tasted before. this one I have had before and it was very consistent with the previous note. For a pretty long lived vintage this one is a fairly early drinker and I'd be surprised if this got a lot better. Medium, translucent garnet color, with a decent but slow to evolve nose, best in the first 2 hours after decanting. There is some earthy mushroom, cherry, rose petals and a touch of spice...solid but not particularly notable.
