December 28, 2022 - The defining characteristic of this bottle was petrol. I like a little petrol in my riesling, but in this case, it overwhelmed all other aspects of the wine. It has been about 16 years since I've had a wine where it was this dominant. One of the people at the table said it was the most he's encountered in 30 years. I hope this bottle is a one-off.

May 17, 2020 - Prior bottle was nearly two years ago and my notes were generally consistent. Nose remains a mix of tart peach and more golden honey, with a lightly citrus backdrop. Between medium and full bodied and the flavor profile was much the same: white peach evolving to gold peach and lots of tropical notes (especially pineapple and mango). Still has the tart citrus notes and acidity on the back. Overall, I would say it's a bit more expressive, especially once it warms. While the fruit complexity is still there, as is the acidity (while cooler), the more tropical notes and the richer fruit qualities have started to take center stage. This remains an impressive auslese and one that has many years left ahead of it.

June 22, 2018 - Prior bottle was just over 20 months ago and interestingly enough, my notes were virtually identical. Nose was the same with sweet honey, lemon-accented peach and floral qualities. Opened at 48F, warming to 52F and while it showed well throughout, it was clearly at its best on the warmer side (7.5% ABV). The fruit is simply massive; probably more complex than I originally thought through my prior two bottles. It's a mix of orchard fruit (peach), blended with more tropical notes in the middle (pineapple, mango) and then contrasted by more tart notes behind (orange, lemon, lime), all the while, overlaid by a layer of acidity which serves to bring out the tartness to balance the honey. This is only beginning to open up and wish I had many more bottles, but I will save my last for Fall 2019 and thoroughly enjoy even if it may last 10+ years beyond that time easily.

November 27, 2017 - Not as thrilled this time around - maybe I caught it in a funky face, but the fruit was a little four squared with way too much obvious petrol flavors. Not bad and should benefit from more time in bottle, although curious how the screwcap will affect the aging of the wine.

September 23, 2017 - Still very youthful, but fine balance of crisp fruit and creamy sweetness made for a great accompaniment to mild curry. Excellent value that is delicious now, and has the balance and stuffing to go on for another 15 years or more.
