August 13, 2021 - 2008 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Tre Vigne ($25 in 2012). Mid-garnet, brick edges; mid viscosity (13.5 alc); earthy old world nose; red fruit, leather; medium acids, tannins; good red fruit on the palate; long finish. w/veal. 16.5 UC Davis scale, 91 other scales.

November 1, 2014 - Decanted through an aerator and a strainer, and drank over the next four hours. Notes are essentially the same as my April 2013 comments. It was again bitter after dinner (90 minutes) but mellowed out later. In fact, later it was becoming bland. I think this one is getting towards the end of its useful life.

March 30, 2014 - The wine looks ruby colored. It smells like raisin and fig. It tastes like violet. The body is medium. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long.

    Color (13.5/15) Aromas (22.5/25) Body, Structure (23.5/25) Overall Impression(33/35)

April 14, 2013 - Let open 45 minutes in large glass and in bottle. Light cherry/ruby color, with rim beginning toward orange. Light body. Sweet cherries with some leather and spice. Medium to long finish. After opened up, lost sweetness; sour cherries mid-eastern spices. Almost bitter for awhile. After pizza it mellowed into a dry tartness. At first I was planning to drink my last bottle of this one soon, but after watching this develop, I may wait another year.

Bien +
