May 12, 2023 - 14.1% abv. From a recent auction "mystery pack" of well-stored Herb Farm collection wines.
Viscous, muscular, and round, but with good balancing acidity. Interesting and contemplative. More expressive closer to room temperature than straight from the fridge. Some dried tropical fruit notes, but also a mineral component that was pleasing. My wife and I really enjoyed this.

October 9, 2016 - Always enjoy MB wines, especially whites.

January 27, 2015 - This had a lovely nose of dried apricot. Unfortunately I found it thin on the mid and end but not unpleasant in any way.

July 18, 2014 - This was served alongside a 2013 Ojai Roussanne Bien Nacido Vyd. I mention it because these wines were very fun to compare and contrast. The MB is all about stones, minerals, and rivers whereas the Ojai was all about tropical fruit (is there also some Viognier in there??). The MB's fruit finally stepped forward, but it was (the MB had a splash decant and was then returned to bottle, the OJai was PnP) not until the last glass, and not until this had warmed up close to 60F. Even then it was subtle, gentle. Nonetheless, this was really elegant, kind of the 'cool' side of WA fruit in that it showed grace, and modesty. This was kind of the anti-butter/EtOH/forward wine I really don't care for these days as they all taste the same after the first sip. A pleasant surprise. 14,1% abv (fully integrated). Medium-bodied, dry, and fully mature. Should hold here for a few more years. recommended

March 11, 2014 - Found this bottle in my cellar! Not sure where it came from, but glad to find it. Nose is creamy, with lemon melon meringue. Palate is full and very smooth. A bit of nuttiness with the melon fruit flavors. Aging well and if I had more I'd wait another year or two to try again. Really wish MB still made a 100% Roussanne.

(Maison Bleue ' Soleil' Roussanne Olsen Vineyard Yakima Valley) Very pretty floral notes, exotic spices, and intense minerality on an incredibly complex nose. A creamy, richly textured mouthfeel on a palate marked by mineral, apricots, and lemon notes. 100% Roussanne, Olsen Vineyard. Whole cluster pressed and fermented in French oak barrels (20% new). Aged sur lie for approximately 7 months. Partial (20%) malolactic fermentation. 14.1% alcohol. 160 cases produced.
