August 14, 2021 - Surprisingly good and even fresh. Black cherry notes, very soft tannins. Still going strong.

March 21, 2021 - From a 750 that basically had the same fill as a 2016. Cork in great shape. Deep garnet and ruby with dark fruits on the nose, clove, tea, and graphite. Quite light and smooth on the palate, the tannin has totally integrated, but a decent amount of acidity has remained. Very enjoyable side by side with a 2016, and the character seems fairly consistent over 30 years

May 18, 2020 - Amazing. Decanted for 8 hours. Has plenty of life left. Deep color with small amounts of tawney. Little oxidation. Tart cherries on the nose. Earth and oak well integrated. Graphite and fresh tea leaves. Wonderful.

June 22, 2019 - In my cellar since release when my records indicate I paid $27 for it. Decanted around 4:30pm and tasted from about 8-10pm. The wine is slightly translucent dark garnet with very little bricking given the age. Nose is very fragrant with the expected vanilla along with some musty chocolate, sous bois, and earthy tobacco. Soft well integrated tannins and enough brightness to make the wine a little lively yet rich in your mouth. Palate has dark cherry, chocolate covered dried cherry and tons of earthy flavors especially on the finish. Amazingly complex, layered and chewy. Excellent with steaks on the grill and all the accompaniments. Another in a fairly long line of excellent older Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabs. Justin Meyer was such a unique winemaker whose wines have, sadly, long out-lived him.

June 22, 2019 - Decanted for 3-4h. This is an earthy beast. Potting soil on the nose and palate. At the same time you have dried cherries, dark chocolate, awesome complexity. Amazing. My WOTN.
