The nose is great and very true to type, the palate is more anonymous and a bit short but as a cheap mixed lot at auction it’s a pleasant surprise

  November 20, 2016 - Opened a bottle last year and thought it was too old. General impression much the same as MMMMISHA below. Categorized it as cooking wine.
  
  Forgetting that opened another bottle last night and got the good version. distinctive nose with pipe smoke and dark fruit. Palate was blackberries with a hint of cassis. Short finish. Have one more bottle to break the tie.

  July 16, 2013 - Dark fruit on the nose but very disappointing in the mouth. Thin and tough. I agree with others who have said cigar ash, but not in a good way. I ended up using it for cooking and opened something else to drink.
