August 4, 2011 - prefer the lauer barrel x at this price point. correct but muted. maybe would have been better the 2nd day

May 14, 2011 - outstanding. Nose is all minerals and freshness....nice balance between fruit and minerals (fruity but not sweet)...nice acid and salinity. friendly.

April 12, 2011 - 2009 Basic German Riesling Tasting: Eric really liked this wine, finding good character and lovely apricot and peach fruit, some ginger, and minerals. He liked the succulent texture and called it one of the more complete wines of the tasting. I really liked this wine and second favorite was a toss up for me between this and the Keller. I thought the nose was subtle and harmonious, and I liked the hints of baking spice and earth. The off-dry palate was nicely balanced with good acidity and there was a lovely bitter pit finish. Stephen liked the fresh nose, the sweet palate and thought it was a well put together wine, but found it to be unidimensional. Rubén liked it initially, but going back to it he found it a bit mute and without complexity. There were leftovers of every wine except for Willi Schaefer's, and this one improved a lot on day 2, by the way.

February 25, 2011 - Mosel all the way. Green Granny Smith apples, some mineral and some acid. Second day a little apple-juicy. Still decent juice and a nice finish. I like more bitter/sweet/acid if I could. I am trying to say it's just a little off on the yummy factor for me... but I have no problem drinking the wine.

January 14, 2011 - Delicious, effusive ripe grapefruit aromatics splashed with apple and peach juice and topped with carmelized sugar. Pale gold color in the glass with a bit of spritz. Medium body weight that seems to come mostly from the residual sugar since its only 10.5% ABV. Crisp acidity and a medium long finish. I don't really know riesling well enough to say how it stacks up, but it is, at least, delicious and fun to drink.
