April 1, 2016 - Another lighter-bodied (12.5%) Pinot from Wind Gap with remarkable darkness and density; dark earth, tarry, burnt spice cake; not my favorite Wind Gap pinot expression (qualities better suited for Syrah?) but can't dispute that it's a quality wine

August 10, 2015 - Our last bottle of this wine. Still rather dark and full-bodied for a Pinot, it does remind me of other CA Pinot Noirs drunk much earlier in my lfe, but it does have better balance. It has a tarry character to it that does somewhat obscure the Pinot Noir character.

April 8, 2015 - I hate it when people use Burgundian to describe New World wine. But damn it if this isn't the most Burgundian Pinot I've ever had from California. Dominated by mineral and earth and structure, with beautiful, quiet, well delineated fruit weaving in and out. I'd never had my a-ha moment with Pax's pinots until recently, tasting them with a bit more age. These are pretty damn good.

April 2, 2014 - Reticent early, fleshed out well during the meal @ Refinery. I will give Pax a little more time w/ his Pinots, but, if they do not lose their Republican-esque austerity (even after a few years), I will spend my 'Pax $' for more of his Syrahs.

March 26, 2014 - Aromatic nose and lively fruit of red cherry & pomegranate with delicious acidity on the finish. Great food wine!
