April 3, 2015 - Siphoned off its sediment into clean bottle.

Color: Medium Garnet color. Towards rhe rim the color moves towards an orangish brick.

Nose: Wine is clean. Slight oxidative aroma on the nose reminiscent of ruby port. Baked over ripe red fruit. Jammy. Smells like a wine with a long hang time and uber ripe fruit from a warmer climate. Jammy cooked berry aromas blend into a faint vanillin aroma. Must have had new oak when they made this.

This is a DRY wine with MEDIUM MINUS acidity. The ripe fruit forward style makes you think it is sweeter than it really is. It is hard to notice the acidity behind that wall of jammy cooked fruit.

Tannin: Low. What little tannin exists is soft & silky (Note: there was a fair amount of sediment in the bottle after decanting which was discarded.)

Finish: Long finish. This is like a some hybrid wine between ruby port (if it was dry) and a modern Monastrell.

Tasted without food. It's a big wine. More of powerful in your face style than one of finesse. If your into wines of this type, it would be worth a shot. It actually is holding up suprisingly well given it is 12 years old at this point in time. Sip it slowly and you might find some charm in this.

Reminds me of a big California Zin in style (Jammy, low tannin) which makes me think that this would be a natural partner for roast lamb (or other hearty red meat dishes)

November 30, 2010 - I also agree with GalvezGuy--great description. That said, this wine will not improve any further. This is the second bottle that I have opened in the last 3 months and it is on the downside. It is still very good, but drink up!

January 8, 2010 - not much i can add to the description offered by GalvezGuy. the gaminess of this wine cries out to be paired with rare meat (venison, buffalo, etc.). needed 20 minutes of air to show off completely. an interesting change-up from the usual diet of cabernet, pinot and sangio.

December 27, 2009 - Clumsy wine, clearly beyond its best years.

September 10, 2008 - No formal notes. Decanted for an hour, porty nose as others suggest but doesn't carry through the palate. Red fruits, leather, and spice. Nice QPR. I have one more which I'll drink within the next year.
