December 19, 2015 - {cork, 13%} Very high shoulder; there’s some clear evidence of leakage up the side of the cork; but the wine, although very brick-like in colour seems to have survived OK; it’s medium-bodied, quite fragrant in a leathery, slightly acetic way. The flavours too are of leather and a touch of volatility; the tannins have totally subsided, and the fairly generic ‘old red wine’ flavours are leavened with perhaps a tinge of curranty leafiness. Medium finish; this bottle is clearly past best but better-stored wines ought to be in better nick. That aside, there’s nothing to gain from further time.
