April 9, 2020 - Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
Popped and poured, drunk over multiple days. Clear, deep ruby color. Clean, medium+-pronounced and developing nose with lots of blueberry, cassis and other dark fruit, speck, bacon, pepper and spices. Very intense, complex and multi-layered. Wonderful!
On the palate a silky orgy of dark fruit, pepper and fine oak in the background. Velvet texture, the 14,4% abv perfectly balanced by the racy acidity. Medium+ velvet tannin. Wonderful balance and elegance in a baroque kind of way. Cream without fat, tension and energy. Looong and fruity finish. This is how I like Aussie Shiraz on its very peak! April 13, 2012 - Chocolate and pepper on the nose with an undertone of mint. Rich and velvety on the tongue. Oak and blackberries on the palette. Very nice wine.
