April 6, 2024 - The light fresh nose of plums is deceiving as the second it hits your palate, the impression is of a much younger, powerful wine. Viscous and rich, almost syrupy; really grows on you. Will enjoy sipping this through a sunny but cold day. 92+

June 18, 2023 - 1991 Croft VP. Decanted ~7 hrs. Very dark color with just a bit of lightened bricking on the edges. Youthful plums still dominate the nose and palate. Moderate tannins give to a dash of anise and are balance by good acidity, which also is keeping the sweetness in check. A VP that is nowhere near peak yet and still has a long life ahead of it. During which time it will continue to develop and eventually take on secondary notes. Absolutely delicious, but over the next 10-20 more years it will only get better. 93+\100

May 27, 2023 - Evolves beautifully on day two, and unsurprisingly this could still use a decade of rest. Dried fig on the nose, good acidity and medium body, not syrupy. Artisan dark chocolate and raspberry, vibrant and complex. Extra long finish.

March 2, 2023 - My first experience with this port house. I was able to sample a glass each over 4-5 nights, and not surprisingly, it continued to improve. Initially it showed a bit too much raisiny fruit and heat, but with air, it became better integrated, with a rich core of blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry, fig and black plum fruit. Probably entering its prime drinking window now. The tannins have subsided to a level where they are still noticeable but caressing, and while the fruit profile is not the most complex, it gives you enough to contemplate. Medium-bodied, viscous and rich without being syrupy or too hot.

April 26, 2020 - Have only had the pleasure and chance to enjoy a few 20+ year aged vintage ports and this one was awesome. From the first glass to the last about two weeks later. Last glass was like drinking a glass of sweet cherries dipped in chocolate. Looks like I need to source a few more somehow.
