August 10, 2016 - Needs time in glass to open in full. Very nice, fresh bouquet of aromas: lime, mint, green apple, thyme, hazelnuts. Full-bodied which is well balanced with acidity. Long finish.

September 24, 2013 - {screwcap, 13%} Having just tasted the 2013 a scant 48 hours ago, I was interested to see how this inaugural vintage of the HVD chardonnay was looking. Pale straw yellow in colour. Very restrained in aroma; just a little mineral/sandstone bouquet. Lanolin, wax, grapefruit, hint of nuts. The palate is beautiful, if only light-bodied; there is only the gentlest of oak accents, with soft-edged but effective acid. The soft flavours lilt across the palate at the end of the medium-long finish. It's a pretty understated wine now; I suspect this is in a bit of a dip somehow. Oh well... I wouldn't be worried about any more in the cellar, though.
