  December 6, 2020 - Fatsie over for dinner. After a disastrous start with an oxidized 98 Grosset Polish Hill ( a dud bottle from Marky W) and a very tired 82 Petaluma Coonawarra, i was beginning to think the nights drinking frivolities were jinxed. We came good with a lovely 08 Giant Steps Tarraford Chard ( 93 points) and 1990 Balgownie Cabernet (94) but then we both were gob smacked in the face and flattened by this amazing wine.
  
  I have 3 bottles in pristine condition, and this is the standard , not even the Odyssey ( i think 91 was the first Odyssey??). it smelt like blackberries, black currants, mint, hint of menthol, and in time developed lovely cigar box and Cabernet leaf. Quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet, up there with a 91 Riddoch. The palate was rich and dense and the wine still had many primary colour aspects. Put this away for another 5-8+ years and enjoy as a 40+ year Coonawarra Cabernet. Superb

  November 9, 2012 - Plenty of structure left, though the fruit was by now very mellow. Took a long time for it to come out of its skin, even after 5 hours of decanting.
