March 2, 2023 - David’s 1999 Cote de Nuits (Lorne, London): Denser and darker. Again a little richer. Good structure but this bottle seemingly a little two dimensional. Again, a little too warm for clarity. ***

March 2, 2023 - David's 1999 Côtes de Nuits 1er Cru, Village by Village Horizontal (Lorne Restaurant, London): Nose has a saline caper quality with some icing sugar dusted blueberries. Later some lemon and lime sherbet boiled sweets in the distance. Palate once more not the most giving with some tartness on pouring that resolves a little.

September 26, 2020 - Popped and double decanted two hours before drinking with dinner. This was just okay, lacking the detail and richness associated with the vintage. I'm seriously hoping this is just a bad bottle or dumb phase as I have another bottle. Drank alongside the '99 Clair CSJ which was similarly disappointing.

June 29, 2019 - Ruby with rusty hints. Nose of damp cellar, cherry pits, dark berry, violets. Dense black raspberry and plum notes on the palate with a certain lushness amidst the still-firm tannin. Ample acidity. Moderately long finish of earth-driven dark raspberry and blackberry fruit with a touch of grip. Not really open at this time. Needs more years in the cellar.

(Esmonin Sylvie Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.Jacques) (From magnum) Medium ruby-red colour. It’s a wide and mineral nose with an almost corky element. With time the corky element takes over - I never found it on the palate though - still, a shame.
