February 11, 2017 - I am really confused by the drinking window some users have applied to much younger vintages. I was offered 72 bottles of this wine on a 2001 vintage, which had been stored in one cellar since release. Being slightly sceptical, and bearing in mind that I hadn't previously tasted this wine, I was therefore led to believe it may well be over the hill. I was half expecting a waxy, oxidised wine that would be 'interesting' to taste - but nothing else! Thankfully, I was wrong. Whether it be pristine cellaring, or a lucky bottle, on this occasion Zind 2001 was full of energy and life. The colour was vibrant and by no means murky or showing any signs of oxidation. The nose, mineral focused, with a hint of baked apple and cream. The palate, albeit fairly simplistic in the complexity department, offered lovely rich stone fruit tapered by perfectly weighted acidity. Leaving the best until last, the finish - This was stubborn and relentless, possessing intensity and tremendous length. This wine ranks as one of the most pleasant surprises my memory can recall. At £10 a bottle you expect a certain level of satisfaction, this wine went far beyond my expectations.

December 17, 2011 - Friday Night Blind Tasting (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): Dark golden colored. Nose shows explosive honey, pistachio nut, and lychee. The palate is fresh with plump fruit, and high acid. There's some sweetness that reminds me of riesling, but an olive oil flavor that makes me think of some sort of strange Italian white wine. I guessed it as an Alsace riesling. I think this does have some riesling in it, but I was right about my notion that there was just something Alsatian about this wine.

    Wasn't my cup of tea

May 9, 2009 - An interesting blend that works for the most part. The nose is rather complex, but the palate is missing that complexity and doesn't really achieve any vivid detail. True to Zind's efforts, this was no less a solid food wine. I think I'd have gone with a little less Chard in the blend. Drink thru 2011. At $15 for a 375ml, I'm not complaining.

November 23, 2006 - This wine has become a traditional part of Thanksgiving around here - and as always it fails to disappoint. Clean crisp fruit, delightful nose, and long citrusy finish. The wine is straw colored and slightly sweet. It never fails to be a favorite among neophytes to wine, and a pleasure to those with more tasting experience. Wonderful melon, white grape, and kiwi fruit flavors. Excellent.
