November 4, 2020 - Opened and decanted for about a half hour. Also used an aerator. Concord grape attack, lightweight in body, ends with a juicy finish. After about an hour the finish becomes drier and more dusty. Good +

December 11, 2014 - This is drinking beautifully. Red cherry color. Gorgeous nose of cherry, spice, and flowers. A very feminine wine, as usual, with great purity and bursting fruit on the palate. Elegant, detailed, and impeccably balanced. This wine just unfolds gracefully and is a pleasure. A-/A

November 3, 2014 - Wow -- so much better than a bottle of two months ago (which, in hindsight, was an off bottle). Lovely nose of black cherry with notes of wet earth, asphalt after rain, clove and roses. Pure black cherry on the palate, with notes of raspberry, baking spice, cherry hard candy, and a little spritz of cherry. Nice acidity and a long finish. Excellent (and any previous worry about the '08s going downhill is now dispelled).

September 2, 2014 - Another darker '08 from WesMar. In the last 12 months, four WM '08s (different vineyards) have shown a much darker and heavier profile than prior vintages and prior bottles of the '08s themselves. Odd. This one almost seemed over-the-hill upon opening, with an unpleasant raisin/port element on the nose and palate. Fortunately, the wine opened up with air and turned out to be a decent bottle -- black cherries, blackberries, some spice. Definitely not the brighter, more aromatic WesMar to which I have becomed accustomed. Hope the '08s aren't going downhill already . . . .
