March 17, 2007 - Shocked me a little when first opened - a sort of wild smell - that sort of blew off and we had an excellent, more traditionally styled wine. Nose of damp earth, dark sour fruits and some herb (maybe thyme) - flavor of prunes - others mentioned tannins, which to me were really soft and well integrated. really enjoyable with mushroom orzo - everyone at dinner seemed to enjoy it - someone called it "really fruity" - which i didnt see.

February 11, 2007 - Amarone Night with Friends (Doug's House): Rich fruit, touch of alc, sweet ripe cherries, serious tannins. this has a lot of potential but also seems to need a bit more time. powerfull wine - not for the light hearted.

February 10, 2007 - Saturday Chez Nous: Deep ruby color. This is the only one of the three Amarones we had that really showed the expected Amarone profile, with aromas of tobacco, raisins and spice. Still quite youthful but coming into its own. On the palate very nice balance, full bodied with a touch of sweet raisin flavor. Very nice.
