Community Tasting Notes 12

December 17, 2017 - Color remains deep purple-ruby. Nose displays that barrel room oak and black cherry leather, along with herbal and floral notes. Tannins and background acidity are still fresh. Flavors are deep and well balanced, with floral and fruit flavors on top of wood and earth tones. Finish is long.

August 26, 2017 - Deep, nearly opaque purple-ruby. Nose is vibrant with barrel room oak and black cherry leather (somewhat charged by alcohol), with tertiary anise and floral notes. Moderately well integrated tannins and background acidity lend to a supple mouthfeel. Palate complexity develops with time in glass, with floral and fruit flavors on top of wood and earth tones. Finish lingers for a while.
I've had this wine on a few occasions and every time I'm surprised that I've forgotten the heft that accompanies the fruit and floral characteristics. This wine stands well on it's own but really...why? It marries SO well with hearty, meaty food that it would be a shame to miss it's full potential. Outstanding now but, if you can cellar it well, I suspect it will continue to develop increasing subtle complexity.

May 14, 2016 - Great wine here, black cherry, blackberry fruit with a nice core of earth, licorice and tar notes. Creamy texture throughout with a long finish and smooth tannins. Wish I had more of this one.

March 29, 2016 - Very enjoyable and well balanced. Not over done. The nose was incredible. Lots of luscious fruit, but in no way dominating, just a very nice part of the balance. An elegant Rhone blend.

    December 10, 2015 - Superb!
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like mineral, red currant and black currant (cassis). It tastes like black currant (cassis) and cranberry. The body is light/medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.
