Community Tasting Notes 12

January 22, 2013 - Directly after I opened the bottle I tried the first glass without any decant or something else. Super closed nose with only a little bit of black fruits but tons of earth. Dark earthy notes and a lot of bitterness on the palate which is really not the style I like.
After waiting about one and a half hour the nose develops a bit and get some interesting notes of dried tobacco, like when you open a humidor (yes right a humidor :D), some spice and a bit more fruit. Still very dark and earth. Although the bitterness on the palate was a bit better integrated and some blackberry came out the palate was still very dark and earth driven.
You should give this wine a lot of air and a decanter.

An interesting wine which is not this super fruit monster from Toro which I had some before but also no 90 Points like Parker scored in my opinion.

October 24, 2012 - Red to purplish in color. Light in the mouth, really too light flavored for the oaky finish. Strawberry and a bit of grass in the nose. Red berry and bitter in the mouth. Needs more fullness of flavor and more depth.

July 20, 2012 - One word? Smooth. Maybe (almost) too smooth. Flavors were very balanced with a hint of pomegranate. Despite the image of the bull on the label, I think any foods with strong flavors or spices would have really overpowered this wine. My wife liked it more than I did. Very neutral on the tongue. It was a good wine for the price, but I'm not sure I'd say it's a great wine for a great price. Probably won't buy again only because there are others I prefer for same price.

November 1, 2011 - I hope this was flawed and not the standard for this bottle because it was vinegar both smell and taste. I poured it out after letting it breathe for hours and it not getting any better.

October 31, 2011 - Cheap. You get what you pay for, next time I will pay for something else. It has indistinct red fruit, some oak, though it tastes like soggy cheerios. "Meaty and oily" says the label. Probably, but not in a good way.
