July 8, 2019 - This Fonteny has finally arrived ... Looks like I wasted most of the case drinking it too early.

Elegant, well balanced, long. With typical Gevrey aromas and flavors. A complete wine in GC territory even if lacking in ultimate power and complexity.

April 18, 2019 - This wine drinks well above its classification. A classic expression of Chambertin this has dark dark fruit and smoked meats. Tannins are mature and integrated. Just the right acidity. Drink or hold.

October 26, 2017 - A Sampling of Bruno Clair Reds--2012 to 2006 (Arlequin Wines, San Francisco): Medium fading ruby. Red fruit and stalky scents. Light weight with real glycerine. Beautiful, open, dry red fruit. Long soil finish with good tannic punch. Excellent and classic tonight, but I sense it may have a few years to go before reaching its peak.

March 21, 2017 - This wine is almost 11 years old and still looks young. Pleasant smell of red fruit, barnyard, spices, très pinot. On the palate juicy, fresh, red fruit, nice structure, very long finish. Great balance. Very good Bourgogne. Drink or hold a few more years.

February 13, 2017 - {annual Chevalier Tastevin business dinner, 2006 vintage theme, pop n pour} Pretty nose, on palate complex mixture of some austere tannins and nice crisp red/black fruit. Good length. very solid Premier Cru. Based on memory this is showing better than the 2005. Drinking well now and could hold another 5 years. Not at the same level of subsequent wines ('06 Ponsot Clos de la Roche, de Vogue 1er Cru Chambolle, and Boillot Corton Charlemagne).
