October 16, 2023 - cheers - a classic Rioja from an excellent producer and fantastic vintage, this wine is incredible. Velvety tannins from this almost-20 year old Tempranillo...fruit is very mellow and a long finish. I didn't decant but poured about 10 oz in a glass and let it sit for an hour....looking forward to day 2

March 19, 2023 - What a great surprise. I had 3 bottles left of 2005. One I had today 3/19/23. This was by far the best!!! This wine is getting better after 18 years… wow… Decanted for 30 minutes. Didn’t need much more. Beautiful aromas and flavors of oak vanilla tobacco cherry plum blackberry chocolate black fruit pepper dark fruit cedar raspberry prune coffee coconut. Very smooth full body. Perhaps the best Rioja I ever had. Definitely up there…

January 1, 2023 - A very well made Gran Reserva. Still feels a little primary and I'm more confident now it would last another decade.
Having said that, it opens up nicely after an hour.
Classic profile, a crowd-pleasing gran reserva with a potential to develop more complex characteristics still.
Perhaps it needs to breath another hour or spend more time in the bottle.
This was a small Coravin sample (100ml). Will give the next one more time.
