Community Tasting Notes 5

February 2, 2024 - Very decent. Left a glass of it on the counter and after 24 hours, it still tasted good. Impressive.

August 29, 2023 - Deep purple with blackberry, black pepper and some earthiness on the nose. Becomes more like jam or fig on the palate. Moderate acidity and tannins. Finish was short at first but lengthened as it opened up. Decent for the price point.

February 20, 2023 - Cherry and dark fruit on the nose, clean on the palate with a bit of stone on the finish. Not terribly acidic or tannic. A good sipper with picadillo.

January 27, 2022 - See my previous post on tasting notes. Phenomenal with wild boar tenderloin, dried cherry sauce… used the wine in the sauce. Absolutely amazing pairing.

December 20, 2021 - First CdR I’ve ever had - purchased on Last Bottle for $14.
Opened around 4:30, tasted at opening and again at 5:30, poured first glass around 6.
Interesting nose, very herb-forward, subtle cherry, some “funk” to it (at least that’s the best way I can describe it). On the palate, wine is bright, complex flavors following the nose along with some licorice and subtle spices, ever so slightly present tannins, short but not aprupt finish. Wine softens and expands as it’s allowed to breathe. Made an interesting pair with the seared tuna I made for dinner, maybe not the ideal pairing but an interesting flavor combo. Overall, thought the QPR was great and a very nice intro to CdR - definitely a style I plan to explore more, and a great weeknight wine. My understanding is that it pairs better with gamier meats, so may try my second bottle with some lamb.
