October 24, 2011 - Intense raspberry and leafy nose, very inviting. Fine fruit, dark fruit and plenty of it, w/o being lush, and smooth tannins and good structure (much more so than the cheaper, but still very good Orion Primitivo which is great for everyday drinking). This is more restaurant quality, would go well with meat (steak, pork chop with mushrooms, wild boar, or fowl) . A bargain for the price. This one of the best, reliable primitivos you'll find in Salento. This will keep for 3-5 years no problem. One reviewer mentioned Negro Amaro; this is all Primitivo, and the difference is clear, if you try each variety side by side.
