Dark slightly sweet fruit aromatics with smooth and medium texture and very well balanced. This showed well right of the get go but decided to double decant for very fine sediment and allow the mineral component to emerge on the finish. Lots of flowery aromatics and a strong representation of field herbs a la Garigue. No rough tannins , no mean green, a real surprise showing considering many TN's here on previous bottles. Very unique and surprisingly soft at the beginning but gains complexity and structure. I'd say it has aged very well. Solid wine worth attention. That said, I have had big bottle to bottle variances from other vintages of this, as well as the other Mas Blanc wines, so it's always a wild roll of the dice....

Bold black fruits start-to-finish with plenty of roasted meat and meaty spice. Still tannic, but balanced and even nearly elegant. Also still fresh enough for its age given 2003's difficulties throughout France.
A huge step up over Junquets 2003 recently opened.

From half, bottled Sept 2003, purchased from JJ Buckley auction in 2008. Poured translucent red brick. Acetone mostly blows off leaving nose of fresh cherry lozenge, summer plums. With PnP, palate is very sweet/sour but not liquoreux, refreshing, smooth and layered, slight oxidative note for added complexity. Needed 20 years to mature and should continue mellowing for another 20.

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux
Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Unfiltered, medium golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Acacia, honey, oriental Spices, resin, floral notes, some musty notes and mellow apple. Dense and complex.
Bone dry, medium+ acidity, 13% abv, well integrated and never hot. On the palate quite mineral, again honey and acacia, pepper and some musty notes. Lots of extract, deep, dense and complex. Long and spicy finish. Goes very well with food, but also makes fun as a solitaire. Could not drink this combination of Roussanne and Marsanne every day, but every know and then it is really good. 92-93

Opulent and well matured Banyuls, with the typical phenolic warmth and port type sweetness, chocolate, cinnamon, sweet paprika, caramel, elderflower, plums, dried raisin, nuts. Impeccable and a wonderful companion of our mousse au chocolat.

A bit from memory, but not quite as enjoyable as the bottle I had in 2015.
As before, sweet, but not at all cloying. I have some 2005, and I will be drinking them straight away.

Not being an expert after only a handful of Rimage, but they seem better at a young age (10-20 yrs). The younglings are more precise, distinct with beautiful tannins and vibrant intensity through the fruit.

I usually don’t prefer young wines, but some styles simply lend themselves to my taste in young ones.

Oeil: like a mature, extracted Bdx.
Nez: plums, pure dark fruit, richesse.
Gôut: a bit muddy and one-dimensional. Ultra balanced, M acids, non-cloying sweetness and excellent with cheese. All aromas integrated around indistinct plum compote.

Superbly delicious but not particluarly complex.

My last bottle. I wish I had more. It's really outstanding and has life left for sure. Presented similar to my last few bottles. Still has lots of fruit and tannins, nice acidity. A nicely balanced wine, with some complexity from the age. Very well made wine.

Drank on 82 night with a Lafite and Dom Perignon from the same vintage. I love Banyuls and this is a top producer. Balance and nuanced, lovely pairing with dessert.

From an old bottling, probably between 1986 and 1991. Selection by Restaurant L'Ambroisie (started in 1986) and with a lead capsule that disappeared from 1991-ish. Slightly different text on the label, calling it "Solera" instead of Sostréra. If it was a Sherry, it would have 1925 written out, as that year marked the beginning of this wine's solera system.

Pale tawny, towards whiskey.
The nose is large and initially dominated by roasted coffee. As time goes by, there are other aromas that spring to life: figs, tobacco, red berries, herbal qualities, birch wood and much more...

In the mouth: Semi sweet. This is almost infinite! The mature tones are magical. Tobacco, black tea leaves (English Breakfast style), beautiful minerals, citrus, chewing tobacco, mmm! Snuff! Very little rancio, but all the more of fruity acidity that is lip-smacking-good.

I am completely sold on this wine!
Magical! Complex on a different level! Longer than a 10 km jog would be for most people on this forum ;-)

Coca cola, mechanical workshop, unblown balloons, spring harvested hay, space rocket, asphalt, hot soup, more spring than autumn, well-roasted coffee (I hate coffee, but this is wonderful!), squeeky tulip stalks, birch wood, etc. and more and more aromas keep showing up.

This is outside of all most maps for what wine "should be" and exemplary satisfactory. Awesome!

This wine has demonstrated significant bottle variation. This bottle was quite good with dark cherry and some quince on the nose with garrigue hints, lavender, leather. More on the palate. Still some soft tannins holding this wine together. Longish finish.

Cork was moldy on the top, but came out fine with a Durand and the wine is pure. Lovely wine at 22 years. Some forest mushrooms have shown up on the nose and palate since my last bottle, but in a subtle way that adds a lovely dimension to this wine. The wine (13% I think, but it's tiny print so I'm not certain) is nicely balanced and still has a good amount of fresh, delicious fruit. Some very fine tannins still linger on the long-ish finish. Great wine - reminds me a lot of aged Beaucastel CdP!

Best with 24+ hour decant. Enticing sweet/sour palate. Not at all cloying. Very balanced. Perfect with Thai sweet/sour dishes.

This half was less advanced than one consumed a yesr ago. More maroon, no bricking. Acetone on nose and palate needed long decant to leave an unusual sweet/sour wine, not too sweet or too sour. Good with food with sweet fruit sauces, especially Thai food.

PNP into ISO tasting glass ("No" day): Garnet with bricking rim.

On nose preserved jammy red berries, prunes, raisins, graphite and woody spices. Some mushroom undertones too.

Medium acidity, medium sweetness. Quite mellow in a nice way indeed. Will pair well with roasted meat.

93-94 points.
